In Loving Memory of
Michael’s Obituary

Michael Rafael Osorio was born on September 7th , 1973 in Los Angeles, CA and began life by taking each
moment by storm! He took his first steps in Echo Park and marched on to Arleta where the foundation
for his loving and caring personality was laid. At an early age, Michael embodied a vivacious spirit with
intense sensitivity for humanity. He showed care and concern for his family and close friends who
shaped who he became. The care and concern that were cultivated at an early age provided Michael
with the ability to develop deep and personal relationships that he maintained throughout his life.
When you talk to his loved ones today, they will all echo that Michael had an infectious smile, a fun-
loving spirit, and could have you laughing for hours. To many, he became instant friends and would
offer his “Michael Bear Hug” to solidify the deal.

Michael carried his fun-loving personality and intellect to high school and emerged as the life of the
party. Through his involvement in cheer team as a Yell leader, student government, and writing for the
school newspaper, it was clear to everyone that Michael was becoming a well-rounded person ready to
set and accomplish whatever he set out to do. In fact, you could actually hear him coming for his goals
in his dad’s Peugeot.
As an adult, Michael brought joy, tenacity, boldness, strength, and intellectual curiosity to almost
everything that he did. With his community, he was exceedingly generous, caring, kind, loyal, selfless,
reliable, motivated, and determined. In almost any setting and without reservation, Michael exuded a
warm and inviting smile and contagious laugh. His love of life and others knew no bounds. Era un
hombre noble y admirable.
His life was as colorful and vibrant as his early life, surrounding himself with good friends, travelling the
world, and enjoying the nightlife of any city he was in. From his acceptance into UCLA to his rise as
director and officer of compliance at various large health insurance companies, Michael remained
steadfast in his goals. More than that, he had a passion for travel but his love was Broadway musicals,
concerts, sporting events, shopping, and television. He was a patriot with a reverence for democracy
and the institutions and individuals that defended it. His intolerance for injustice was matched only by
his love for community. His Instagram feed is filled with pictures of shopping in Paris, climbing the ruins
of Macchu Pichu, marching for human rights, and laying out at the beaches of Puerto Rico. What’s
notable is how often he enjoyed sharing these times with his family and close friends. He also loved
tennis, played it regularly and was a die-hard LA sports fan.

While Michael was close to his friends, if you talked to him today, he would probably say that his closest
confidant was his younger sister, Cindy. Michael and Cindy were partners in crime. They shared a love
for sports, music, and national politics, could be found on any given weekend laughing together and
bragging about each other’s accomplishments. His love for Cindy and his brother Erick could be seen in
the care he had for his nephews and nieces. To them, they thought he was the cool, fun uncle who
expressed his love for them through his generosity and endless support.

As the son of Salvadorean immigrant parents, Michael remained proud and true to his culture. From the
love of his mother’s Pupusas and food that he would rave about, to the importance of family
connectedness, it is clear that Michael came from strong roots that resulted in his deep respect for his
mother and father. When talking to his mother, he would regularly answer the phone with “Como esta
la mami mas chula del mundo”. Michael adored his parents and was conscious that his success was a
production of all their hard work. As a result, Michael gave back tirelessly, taking them to travel the
world and took them to international soccer games as VIPs. But it was not just the big things. Michael
also focused on the everyday little things that would make any parent feel special, such as treating them
to Sunday brunches, and making sure he was present for family gatherings.

Michael is survived by his parents Rafael and Ana Consuelo, his sister Cindy, his brother-in-law
Alejandro, his nieces Samantha and Isabella, his brother Erick, sister-in-law Silvia, nephew and nieces
Erick, Christopher, and Stacey and his fur baby Charly.

In a recent post to his sister, Michael wrote, “love you to the moon, around the sun, through the
galaxies, and back again”. These are the exact words that we all feel about our funny, caring, and
generous Michael. We will miss his big, infectious smile and his protective and loving presence. Till we
meet again.
